Description

Turkish Ottoman Faucet 1/2 On-Off (MDL-012)

In water use facilities such as fountains and baths built by the Anatolian Seljuks in Anatolia,
especially in fountains, before the water was poured directly into the trough,
the water would sometimes flow into the trough from a stone chute or a wooden spout carved out of a tree, and sometimes through a metal pipe.
These metal pipes, which are considered to be the forerunners of the faucet and attached to the places where the water flows in the fountains, were later called “nozzle”.
The nozzle, which is widely used in Ottoman fountain architecture and is also a “water measuring unit”, was also used during the Seljuk period.

In the first years of the Republic Period,
the production of faucets with motifs developed in the new classical style, which belongs to the last period of Ottoman art, and faucets in the form of double taps continued.
Since the 1950s, new techniques have been developed with the introduction of electricity into the workshops.
In these years, glass water was used for sealing in the faucet body, and errors caused by casting were filled with solder.
In terms of cleaning the product, leveling and polishing processes have been applied to the faucets and chrome plating has begun.
With the start of the faucet production industry, production was carried out in a quality and amount that would not require imported products.
