Description
Sweet almond oil is a natural fixed oil obtained from the sweet kernels of the almond tree using the cold-pressing method. Botanically known as Prunus dulcis var. dulcis, sweet almond belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae).
Sweet almond oil is rich in oleic and linoleic acids (omega-9 and omega-6) and naturally contains vitamin E and tocopherols. Due to its naturally occurring components, almond oil is widely used, particularly in skin and hair care.
Sweet almond oil has a fatty acid profile similar to that of apricot kernel oil. The tocopherols, particularly alpha-tocopherol, naturally present in the oil are valued components in skin care.
Due to its high oleic acid content, sweet almond oil helps keep the skin soft and supple. It can be used for the care of dry skin and helps moisturize, soften, and protect the skin.
Sweet almond oil can also be used for hair, scalp, eyebrow, and eyelash care and is a popular plant-based oil in aromatherapy and personal care applications.
